Damage in Hesse: railway line closed, flights cancelled




A storm is sweeping over Kassel Streets are flooded, basements fill up it also affects other parts of Hesse.

Kassel/Frankfurt (AP) - . Covered roofs, fallen trees, flooded streets: A brief but violent storm swept across parts of Hesse on Thursday evening and caused damage there Local and long-distance traffic was disrupted .The railway line between Fulda, Kassel and Göttingen was closed, as Deutsche Bahn announced on its website on Thursday evening.  ICE and IC trains from the south ended in Frankfurt.  Bus and train traffic in Kassel came to a standstill. There were some cancellations at Frankfurt Airport.

In northern Hesse, some roofs were torn down, trees were knocked down, and basements were full.  according to the current status, there are no injuries, said a police spokesman in the evening.  There was initially no information on the number of operations.
